Hardcoretet Joins Table & Chairs Records

Local jazz label Table & Chairs represents some of Seattle’s most energetic and forward-thinking groups and artists including Cuong Vu, Operation ID, Chemical Clock, and Bad Luck. They’ll be re-releasing our last album Do It Live in the fall and we’re excited to have our music associated with such a stellar group of musicians. From the Table & Chairs website:

“Table & Chairs is pleased to announce that Hardcoretet has joined our numbers. Fans of Operation ID and Chemical Clock are sure to gravitate to their unstoppable funkiness, and those of Neil Welch or WA will resonate with Hardcoretet’s sharp-angled melodies and many-dimensioned sound palette. That said, Hardcoretet will occupy a unique space within our roster, and we’ve chosen to represent the group based on the distinctiveness of their sound. After years of watching at the sidelines, we’re proud to finally be a part of Hardcoretet’s music-making career, and for them to be a part of ours.”

Chris Potter Underground: Nudnik

Chris Potter is a non-stop inspirado-creating machine. He’s a tenor-saxophonist, the leader of this group and a member of many of the bands that have helped shape my musical personality. This particular video is a live performance of a tune from this band’s first album Underground at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2004. Continue reading Inspirado: Chris Potter Underground

Hardcoretet & Gravity – Thursday, May 24th at Tula’s

Gravity is one of my favorite groups in town, featuring my good friends Tim Kennedy on keys, Ian Sheridan on bass, and Claudio Rochat-Felix on drums. They’re all virtuosic musicians who have clearly spent a lot of time honing their hip hop, R&B, and jazz-influenced sound. My band Hardcoretet will be performing with them on Thursday, May 24th with Gravity on at 8 and Hardcoretet on shortly after 9. We did this in January and it was a fantastic, and sold out, show. Don’t miss it! 206-443-4221 for reservations

McTuff NYE Show!

A few months ago I joined one of my favorite Seattle bands, McTuff, and I’m happy to share we’ll be playing a New Year’s Eve show at the White Rabbit in Fremont along with the Yadda Yadda Blues Band.

McTuff is made up of Joe Doria on the Hammond B3 organ, Andy Coe on guitar, Cliff Colon on tenor sax and myself on drums. All of these guys are incredible players with complete facility and control on their instruments and really mature musical instincts. They know when to hold back, when to let loose and how to contribute to a group sound. They’re all great soloists and great ensemble players, which is a rare combination.

Cover for the show is only $8 and tickets are on sale now, so be sure to get yours before they’re gone at Brown Paper Tickets!

Hardcoretet at Tula’s – January 5th

My jazz group, Hardcoretet, will be performing at Tula’s Jazz Club in Seattle on Thursday, January 5th. We’ll be sharing the stage with Gravity, another great Seattle band that plays melodic and driving instrumental funk and soul. The show is all-ages, gets started at 8pm and is only $8 at the door.

Of all the venues in Seattle, Tula’s is probably the best for Hardcoretet both because of it’s intimate vibe and great sound. We’ll be playing tunes from Experiments in Vibe, Do It Live as well as brand new material. See you there!
